Read the source ↓What the company did
SAP describes BITZER using a NEURA 4NE1 humanoid robot in an embodied-AI picking proof of concept. The robot was trained virtually in NVIDIA Isaac Sim, then linked to the company’s existing SAP BTP and EWM environment to connect physical picks with business records.
How it went
SAP reports independent pick-task execution and automatic creation of material orders. These are proof-of-concept results; the article does not provide picking reliability, sustained throughput or long-duration operating evidence. The possibility of 24/7 production is an intended benefit rather than an established outcome.
Worth knowing
- The work depends on industrial robotics and the warehouse-system integration demonstrated in the pilot.
- For your desk: Reconcile requested item, picked item, placement and material order. Include failed grasps, recovery time and safe handoffs when comparing the pilot with staffed picking.

Supporting evidence and review
Human review required
- Independent review advice: validate item identity, successful placement and material-order consistency.
- Review safety and escalation controls before expanding the pilot.
Evidence & limitations
- Company/provider-reported deployment or pilot; no independent Freight Fieldnotes evaluation.
- Proof of concept, not an established production rollout.
- No independent picking reliability or long-duration operating evaluation is disclosed.
